In we read the chapters 7-8 but in chapter 6 the castle with the red tower Will said, "The bitter thing was all the spirit, all the gallantry, was wasted. Thinking of this, I saw how good things could be meaningless in isolation. What value did courage have, without a free and challenging mind to direct it?" we were supose to find out how this quote relates to freedom.
I think that this relates to freedom by, Will saying ( In my translation ) that the people at the red castle expect him to be happy to get capped and that everyone had to get a cap because its part of growing up. This relates to freedom because Will doesn't want to get capped. He wants to have courage and be free.
